When I first went forward in the Church I was attending, the Pastor asked me if I believed in Jesus Christ. I told him yes, and the following week, I was baptized.
I was told that if, or when I sinned, I was to repent and ask for forgiveness, and God’s love and mercy would remember my sin no more
Acts 2:38 tells us
Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Not once was it ever explained to me what repent means. I was to repent of my unbelief in Jesus Christ, and believe in Him, and that it was a gift from God.
There is no other way that we can be saved. We first have to repent and believe in our hearts that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior, to the glory of God our Father.
