And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life.
Each breath from God gives and sustains life.
Have you ever had the wind (breath) knocked out of you? I was about 9 years old, and playing baseball at school on a boys team. Because I am a girl the pitcher was not accepting me as a team member. I am not sure if he did it on purpose, or by accident, but when he pitched the ball it hit me in the pit of my stomach and knocked the wind out of me. Chocking for air, I lay on the ground for a few minutes, while the teacher helped to get me on my feet.
God has not only breathed breath into man when he created him, but at Pentecost, He sent a supernatural wind.
And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. Acts 2:1-4
The Holy Spirit breathed spiritual life to birth the church that day.
It was at this time that Peter spoke to the crowd… “And with many other words he testified and strongly urged them, saying, “Save yourselves from this untoward generation.”
Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day, there were added unto them about three thousand souls. Acts 2:40-41
