Matthew 25: 14-30

Matthew 25: 14-30

In Biblical times a talent was a predetermined weight of a precious metal, usually silver. A talent was the largest standard weight.

In the story of the talents in Matthew 25: 14-30: a man about to go on a journey, called his own slaves, and entrusted his possessions to them. To one he gave 5 talents, to another 2 talents, and to another 1 talent, each according to his own ability. The story goes on, that the man with 5 talents traded them and gained 5 more, likewise the one with 2 talents did the same, while the one with 1 talent went away and dug in the ground and hid the 1 talent. So when the master came back, he was very angry with the one who hid his talent, because he received nothing from the one that was hid.

This story reminded me of those that are on fire for doing the Lords work, after accepting the Lord into their heart. As with the story of the one man with 5 talents, he tells everyone he comes in contact with about his experience, and the second man with 2 talents tells only a few. The third man keeps this exciting news to himself. Of the three men, only one does not follow the command of the Lord Jesus Christ in Mark 16:15. Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to all creation. (All the world, to all creation.)

If you have accepted Jesus Christ into your heart, then share with others. We have that ability given to us by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
