Teach me Your way, O Lord, And lead me in a smooth path, because of my enemies.
When I read this scripture, it reminded me of an incident that happened several years ago, that involved owls.
We live in the country, and there was an old farm house for rent at the end of our fence line. A young couple had moved in, and was raising a special breed of chickens. These were small chickens, and they laid different colored eggs. Not being familiar with country life, they allowed the chickens free range (not caged).
For many years Hoot owls flew a path between our house, and the rented house. We had grown accustomed to hearing them at night, and had even begun to know the sounds of the young owls, and the older ones. It was a way of life for us, and filled us with joy in the evening hearing them.
One night just after dusk, we heard a loud noise that sounded like a gun go off. We saw the neighbor and his children gathered around a hoot owl that he had shot. My husband went over and asked him why he had done such a thing. His reply was: They are killing my chickens. Because of this incident, the owls changed their flight pattern, knowing that it no longer was a smooth path for them.
As children of an Almighty God, our paths are sometimes changed, because God knows the danger ahead, and provides a different route that we must learn to follow. He will never leave us nor forsake us.
If you would like to know this God, I invite you pray and ask Jesus Christ to come into your heart, and forgive you of your sins. He is waiting for you to turn to Him.
Deuteronomy 31:6 reads: “Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”
