And Jesus answered and said unto them, take heed that no man deceive you.
As I saw the sun began to rise this morning, I noticed in the field, adjacent to ours, men setting up bales of hay. They carried them from their pickup, placing them a short distance away, and then throwing a tarp over the hay, they drove off. Only to come back about an hour later leaving their pickup a short distance away, and then sat behind the bales of hay.
As the sun rose higher, I heard what sounded to be a lone goose calling out. This went on for about 5 minutes, and then a flock of geese began to answer the call. Only to be startled by the sound of shot gun blasts. As the geese rose in the air to flee, three of the geese fell back to the ground. It was not long before the man with the whistle began to call again. Within seconds another flock of geese came to the call, only to meet the same fate. After several geese had been killed, they picked up the dead ones and left for the day.
This scene reminded me of those that followed false teachers, and others, who also set up a blind, and put out the call. Many came thinking that this was the real thing, only to realize later that they had been deceived. Some did not flee in time, and like the geese that fell to the ground this morning, they met their death in much the same way.
In Acts 16:30 Paul and Silas when asked by the jailer “Sir’s what must I do to be saved”? They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved-you and your household.” Do you spend time with the Lord Jesus Christ in prayer and the reading of His word, so you do not answer the wrong call?
Heavenly Father, My prayer today is that by my obedience, being in the Word, and knowing your will for my life, I can lead others to the true call.
