Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves: therefore be shrewd as serpents, and innocent as doves
As I read this scripture this morning, I began to think about all the preachers we hear on television, some telling us to send more money, while others tell is that if we want a piece of the shroud that Jesus wore, it only costs a few dollars. There are some preachers that tell the Gospel story, and their words ring true, but, we need to be able to discern between what is true, and what is not.
Jesus is sending out His twelve disciples to a lost world, giving them the power to cast out unclean spirits, and to heal all manner of sickness and disease. He is also warning them to be as shrewd as serpents, and as innocent as doves.
This holds true to us today, and as long as we remain faithful, if we as sheep are not in the word of God (The Bible) on a daily basis, we can be tempted and led astray by those that seek to destroy us
