Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
Today as I sit here, I am watching a grey squirrel that has been going from one pine tree to the next searching for that elusive pine cone, that he hoped to find to bury for winter food. As I watched him through the window, I chuckled to my self at the attention he gave to each pine cone, either kicking one out of the way, or seizing upon another to hide in a special place for the coming winter. He would take the treasured pine cone, and dig a hole near our pump house to drop it in, and then cover it up. Going back again to the pine trees to continue searching.
We have two cats that are outdoors all the time, and to that little squirrel, these are enemies that are a threat to his very existence. Always on the lookout, and yet never wavering from the task to provide food to sustain him through the winter.
We are sometimes like that little squirrel in our daily walk with the Lord. Getting into the Word daily, knowing that the enemy is always nearby and ready to distract us when we are not on guard. We must keep our eyes on the promise that God gives up in His Word, that His Word is food for our souls.
