And every firstling of an ass thou shall redeem with a lamb
This was the sacrifice that God had told the Israelites’ they were to do, after He had brought them out of the land of Egypt. There were animals that God considered unclean such as; land animals that either do not chew the cud, or have a split hoof. An ass was concidered unclean.
When I read this scripture, it brought me to another scripture in John 1:29: T he next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him and saith, Behold the lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
The picture that went through my mind, was of that lamb born without a blemish, as our Savior Jesus Christ was went to the cross to be sacrificed because we were unclean. That little lamb was sent to the alter to be sacrificed, because the donkey was unclean.
In Colossians 2:13 we are told: And you being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath He (Jesus Christ) has quickenedd together with Him, having forgiven you all traspasses.
